Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I submitted a memorial several days ago, but it hasn't been posted.

A. At this time, memorials are typically posted within 24-48 hours of submission, and I always send an e-mail as soon as the memorial is posted to let you know it has been uploaded and where it can be found. If yours hasn't been uploaded and you've not received correspondence from me, then please contact me or re-submit the memorial. Though rare, it's always possible that a submission is lost due to circumstances beyond my control (such as server problems, yours or mine).

If you've e-mailed me and received no reply, please post a message in the Message Forums (under Contact Problems). Occasionally e-mail I send to concerning a memorial is bounced back as undeliverable and the Forum is the only way I have of making contact, so you can also check there to see if I've posted a message to you.

Q. My memorial was posted, but I didn't receive a confirmation e-mail from you.

A. The most probable cause for this is that the e-mail address you supplied was incorrect. Please double check your e-mail address for accuracy in case I need to contact you regarding your memorial.

Q. Is there a charge for memorials?

A. No, all memorials are posted free. However, if you would like to make a small contribution (as little as $1) to help support the Four Paws in Heaven website costs, you may do so on the Four Paws in Heaven Donations Page.

Q. The sample memorial with picture only shows one picture. Can I submit more than one picture of my pet?

A. One picture is preferred for now due to server space considerations and I hope to allow more in the future, but I will accept two. Once Four Paws in Heaven exceeds its allocated space with its current web host, the monthly cost to maintain the website will increase.

Q. What are your guidelines for photo submissions?

A. Please send your pet's photo in .jpg, .psd, .tif, .wmf, or .bmp format with a resolution of 72 or 150 dpi, as an e-mail attachment. The maximum file size that can be submitted is 300mb. Although memorial pictures are approximately 325 pixels wide with the border, it's best if you send your photo as large as possible to allow for cropping. I usually crop the photo to create a close-up picture of your pet, or to eliminate distracting backgrounds. If you have special instructions for your photo, please e-mail me.

Q. Do you touch up photos?

A. I may do minor touch up of your pet's photo to eliminate red-eye, color cast, etc., or minor blemishes such as dust at no cost.

Photo restoration and retouching services will be offered in the near future.

Q. I would like to have a picture of my pet on the memorial page, but I don't have a scanner or digital picture. What can I do?

A. I'll gladly scan a picture of your pet for free. You'll just need to send me the photo, plus a stamped, self-addressed envelope so I can return it to you. Please contact me for my mailing address. A link to the contact form is located on the home page. (My email address is no longer being listed on these pages due to increasing amounts of spam.) Also, many photo developers will convert your picture to a digital file for a small charge.

Q. I currently have a memorial page with no picture, but now I have a picture of my pet I'd like to add. Will you convert my pet's memorial page to a photo memorial, and is there a charge for this?

A. You can change your non-picture memorial to a photo memorial at any time at no cost. Just contact me via the contact form on the home page and I will send you the link for the photo upload page.

Q. I still have a question that's not answered in the FAQ. Who should I ask?

A. I'm always happy to answer any questions you may have. Just contact me via the Contact Form on the home page, and I'll reply to your question as soon as possible.
